it looked like rain...

so I headed out pretty early to get some outside time...

only a couple of these left now...

I dead headed the peonies...

and saved the petals...

just piddle farted around...

you know there is always something to dead head...

especially in my yard...

there will be a pot of these on the stove this weekend...

this is the best area for growing green beans...

still growing yours in the ground?

major back saver when you pick and weed free...

the clouds passed us by in the morning...

things heated up with the sun shining...

clouds in the afternoon moved through...

rained all around us and we got nothing...

;o(

BUT...

a cool breeze blew in off the backside of the storms...

and cooled us off and took out the humidity...

and after supper, this is where I was for a time...

as the breeze blew through the deck...

billowing fabric as the chimes softly danced...

;o)

if only every minute of summer were like that...

I would never get off of the deck...

Monday's aren't so bad...

it was a lot nicer out yesterday morning...

not as much humidity and a nice breeze...

so this is what I started on...

and this is after all of that was pulled out and thrown on the brush pile...

the beginnings of a fairy garden...

its not what I had planned at all...

actually, I had nothing planned at all...

this was the best place to play at last evening...

these three things went in there...

and now I have a chair to sit on to work on the potting table...

beans are coming up behind us...

if he could only crow...

played for awhile outside and then came in and did nothing...

this hollyhock is from Ellie!

and we have green beans!

won't be long...

we need to stock up on bacon...

the peonies are at their end...

Sunday's catch up...

one of my blogger friends sent me seeds from their holly hocks...

and I finally got one to grow and even bloom...

now, I got seeds from 2 sisters...

Jettie and Ellie...

but I have no idea which seed this one came from...

but I love it!

if you have been following along at all...

you know that we are so behind on things around here...

like gardening...

so this morning...

Craig and I started with this...

and before 10am...

we had this...

just as the sun was about to beat down on our little heads...

we had created a potting bench, pot storage and the beginnings of our green house...

a few things blooming here...

these are in the island...

and in the wheel barrow...

we came in for the hot part of the day...

did other things...

Doug and Paula stopped by...

and then, I was editing the photos from the morning work...

and came up with a different plan...

so this is the brain fart...

move it in closer together...

the pot with the lid stores the potting soil...

and we have these to plant, yet...

and my garden tools are in here...

and as you see, everything needs a good scrubbing...

that will happen this week...

;o)

there's also a box of spray paint cans that need using...

our new roof...

now, to paint the shutters...

I have been praying for some time now on how we were going to manage a new roof...

the old one had just a couple of years left in her...

I had no idea that the answer would come in a hail storm...

and that we would be able to replace it with a new one that will last 40+ years...

we have paid for replacement insurance for years...

and we have never filed a claim...

until now...

you never really know how well its going to pay until you do file a claim...

and it was pretty simple and everyone was so nice in the process...

and that we would have to pay very little out of pocket...

;0)

I know He sent the hail storm...

and that he protected everything else...

you know, we just need to trust more...

if he takes care of the little things...

we need to learn to give him the big things, too...

He makes it all work out...

we are so blessed...

;o)

it is finished...

this is a new rose...

and some begonias that need planting...

going to work on this area later...

lilies are blooming all over the place...

they finally finished today...

the roof, exhaust fans and bathroom ceiling are done...

and we can now resume our lives...

need to wash the bathroom down...

drywall dust...

and then put things back like they were...

hoping to get a little outside time in, too...

its going to be really hot and humid here from now on, it looks like...

so have to work in the mornings and evenings...

DH is making a Kroger run while I meet with Ann, a fellow blogger...

she is taking 2 babies home with her...

Jasper and Pounce will be heading west...

and I need to do laundry and the fridge needs cleaned out...
