recycle, reuse and keep it out of the landfills...

it's been a busy day...
started off so much cooler and then we got .2 of rain right off the bat...
so a whole truck load of block went to use...
reuse...
it all came from a house that was torn down just 2 houses north of the tracks from us...
very vintage salt glazed blocks...
4 part...
and this is what we have been using for the past 4-5 years here at the shed door...
I am short...
so I need a little step up to get in there...
so the blocks were just laying around and you know how I am about using  what we've got...
and they served their purpose...
and will be repurposed again...
just not sure how yet...
but that's another post...
so we tried them this way and that way...
and finally this way...
now mind you it has just rained enough to make a little mud...
and of course all of the pavers had to be moved again...
but my son stuck to it until he was finished...
and we need to do some more scrubbing on the blocks...
with soap...
but this is the idea...
I thought this was much better than a raised flower bed...
and then we stacked the left overs on the steps that have no rail...
and just topped them with stepping stones...
and it looks better than before...
I just need a way to cover the ends...
maybe more stepping stones...
and they are as straight as you can get them...
the are is not square and the pavers are not square...
then we came in and made chicken and noodles...
mashed potatoes...
corn on the cob...
and...
can you smell it?
black berry pie...
and I ate too much...
I might have to swing this off...
have a great evening!

WHITE WEDNESDAY and another project...

more free blocks, but some with a twist...
toppers for a raised flower bed...
that's what I'm thinking...
but where?
the rest are just some whites in the yard this morning...
it's a lot cooler today and we are getting a shower right now...
been out playing in the rain...
check out Faded Charm for more whites...
you all have a great week!

for my beachy friends...

maybe you can do something with this today...
I love the colors in this...
loved it so much...
I found a background with these colors...
hope you do, too...
we could sure use a nice ocean breeze today...

just in case you missed the morning...

I took these yesterday morning before it got really hot...
we made to 110 heat index...
it was 102 heat index at 9pm when we went out to water...
got another one coming today...
chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and a wee cool down before it goes back up on the weekend...
I am so ready for fall...

weekend rummage loot...

found some stuff when we went to pick up the pavers...
this is the leftovers that everyone else passed up...
fiesta chocolate cup and saucer...
mint condition...
going for $22 with shipping on ebay this morning...
50 cents...
and it looks good here...
2 flowers pots...
pale blue and yellow...
the urn is from Rebecca...
her hubby delivered it this morning...
flower pots were either a quarter or 50 cents each...
urn was $2 at Rebecca's barn sale...
collection so far...
lovin' the color scheme...
then, there were these 2 galvanized birdhouses...
cheep cheap...
and these 2 little watering cans...
big enough to hold a votive candle...
see how it all goes together?
then there was this little fireking bowl...
and this little bowl...
forgot what the pattern is, but sold a lot of it at the antique mall...
this shallow veggie bowl...
and this small platter...
not sure on the pattern anymore...
apple or cherry blossom, maybe?
and there are 4 pair of socks and a purse...
it was all $4.70...

you don't even want to know what got away...
I didn't go for a reason...
we are on a shoestring budget right now...
and I had to be very good...
but this is one lady's sale that I could easily bring it all home with me...
she has great tastes and when she does a sale...
she marks it to sell quick...
bargains gallore...
I have 2 special ladies that I wait for their sales...
because they are that good...

we have a heat advisory of 115 today...
pray for DH...
he's working in it...
there's no ac in a pole barn...
we have closed down the front part of the house...
2 bedrooms and a bathroom...
going to be hanging out inside all day...
the inside needs a little time spent on it anyway...
been playing outside too much, I guess...

hope you are inside staying cool or you are floatin' in a pool...
check on your family and neighbor's...
especially the sick and elderly...
the heat is just too hard on them...
donate a fan to a local charity...
or if  you have an old ac unit just takin' up space in the garage or basement...
dig it out and give it away...
it could save someone's life...
love you guys!
