piddle fartin' away the day...

remember yesterday, Craig was painting this baker's rack...
long time ago, it was in my kitchen...
used it for the microwave and stuff...
you know, stuff...
but its been outside for a few years now...
after a brief stay in Doug's apartment...
it was always white...
but we had 3 cans of plum, or so we thought, when we started this...
the one can is a dark purple and its going back...
we need to get one more plum and two more celery and I think we have this painting thing under control...

so a few photos of what we put on here...

a new home for Peter...

and some smiling faces to greet visitors at the door...

some are a little shy...

babies hanging off of the spider plant...

and here she is...
our once green lawn is now brown...
more tan...
the weeds are even starting to die...
only a few sprinkles since Memorial Day week here...

Daphne over saw the transformation...

and I did some shopping this morning...
online garage sale and she delivers!
2 pillows for the bench and a black table cloth for later...

and I saw this this morning and thought of all of you...
you could do this with cookie dough for one huge cookie...
or the top of a pie...
how cute?
see, I know you are thinking of other things you could do with this idea...
like snowflake cookies this winter with round doilies...
yepper, the gears are turning fast now...

and I love this...
soon to be on my sidebar here on the old blog...

well, I am piddle farted out, so heading into take a nap...
chicken tonight for supper with mashed potatoes and gravy...
cantelope for dessert...
and its really good...
chilling in the fridge until the big moment...
you all have a good day and enjoy the coolness of the 90s!

beautiful day...

busy day...
the last of the day lilies are blooming in the front beds...
the ones in the rest of the yard have a few more to go...

first thing after breakfast and a walk was weeding out here...

more like pulling dead leaves and twigs out...
we do not have very many weeds here...

years of pulling roots and all and never letting anything seed...

so much dead under growth from the heat...

sedum will be coming on soon...

then it was onto mopping the kitchen floor and back out to paint a couple of things...
using up what paint we already have...

the roses that bloomed last week were just scorched...
but there a few new ones with some color to them...

the late purchased snap dragons are loving the heat and blooming so well now...

the colors are fun, too...

a moment to play with Bebe and then back to work...

the glider went celery green...

and there's always time for a nap...

had another migraine hit in the afternoon and was down the rest of the day...
up now and its gone...
just did breakfast, but think I am heading back to bed...
in the 60s this morning...
the guys moved the baker's rack onto the deck last night after dark, so there's so fluffing to do out there today...
more cleaning and another load of laundry...
who knows what else we will get into...
should be another pretty day...
highs in the low 90s, but after the last few weeks, we can do that with no problem...

have a great day!

got the cold front...

spent the morning out here...

and here...

looking around and enjoying a cool breeze...

visiting the side yard that I haven't seen in 3 weeks except from out the windows...

tomatoes are doing well...
with lots of little ones that will be ready for the freezer soon...
can you say chili when the fall winds blow in?

the rose of sharon is not doing well...

very few blooms opening up...

not one Japanese beetle on the whole thing!
then BANG...
it hit...
MIGRAINE...

so this has been most of the day...
wish I looked that good when I have one of these...

up and down, 2 walks, a sprinkle came and went...
lounging on the deck and supper...
just got out of the shower...
need to dry my hair before it sticks like this...

its in the 70s now and we have one more  chance of rain before 9pm...

Bebe's buddy Chrissy was put down yesterday...
she had cancer and it was getting worse for her...
so her mommy took her in...
Bebe doesn't know yet...
he is going to be confused for awhile when she doesn't come out to play with Snikki...
well, heading for the blow dryer...

just a quick update before I head for bed...

Got to talk to my step mom today, and dad is doing better.
When I first called, he sounded terrible.
I could hear him breathing and there was a lot of water in that sound.
He doesn't know to cough.
He can't do it if they tell him to, but eventually he does do it and Paula had to run and suction out his mouth.
He would yell out and then just jabber.
She put the phone up to his ear and I said hi, dad.
He said hi, dad back to me and that was it.
I personally think he has had another stroke or is having a series of small ones.
He is eating a purried diet.
He will go back to the nursing home tomorrow or Friday.
The antibiotics and the yelling he does have cleared his lungs.
I do not see this going on for very long, though.
Not if he cannot cough when he should.
He has just forgot how.
He will soon forget how to swallow.
Once again, he has rallied.
I do not know how many times the doctors have counted him out.
Its just not quite his time.
But, hopefully, it will come soon.

I'm not holding my mouth right...

that's what mom would say if something I was doing didn't come out the first time through...
then she would give me a most intense face with her tongue out to the side...
and whatever I was doing, I would try again with that same face...
and it would work...
the ferns and other things are roasted...

and even after another evening of being completely surrounded by storms...
rained 5 miles north and 5 miles south...

we ended up with about 15 total minutes of sprinkles...
the wind blew and the thunder rolled in the distance...
we watched the lightening dance all around...

so maybe I'm not holding my mouth right...

we have been in a heat warning for so long and its going through at least until Sunday again...

it was 107 on the deck last night at supper time...

when it started darkening up, we went out to see if it was going to rain...

and 90 seemed so much cooler...

it was bearable...

the wind really blew for a change...

by midnight, I was ready for a sweater on that last walk...

LOL- it was in the 80s...

funny how you can get used to things...

like cold and heat...

it was 68 this morning out on the deck with 90% humidity...
that is changing already...
as the humidity drops, the temps will rise...
probably another 100+ day here...
you can bet the next time storms come through...
I'm doing that intense face...

the farmers are talking crop insurance...
yeppers, its that bad...
pray for all those still left without power today as the heat builds up again...
its sure not something I would want to be in...
and the ones who were in the line of the fires that wiped out so much...

and be careful tomorrow...
have a happy 4th...
