a step back...

I found some wonderful victorian photos online the other day...
and this room is just wonderful...
I love the landing in the staircase...
with it's 3 windows, a cozy book nook...
love the child reading...
and the carpet runners that don't match...
I wonder what colors were used in the room...
the ceilings look like a pain to clean...
and this little man...
with a furry friend...
and probably his new tricycle and sled from Christmas...
dapper little gentleman...
and the one room school...
with chalk pictures of Santa drawn on the black board...
remember black boards?...
thing of the past...
smart boards have taken their place...
and to all of you down in bed with colds and flu...
hopefully you will be up and feeling better soon...
another vintage photo of an interior...
love the C shaped cut out so you can see the stairs...
probably to allow light in so you didn't fall...
clever, huh?
grandfather clock, umbrella stand and a ladies hat must mean foyer...
the wood work is outstanding...
hopefully no one covered it up later...
did you ever wonder what they used to do without all the modern conveniences?
how did they stay warm?
LOVE...
even cupid has boots and a muff...
remember muffs?
history is one of my favorite things...
I hope you had fun stepping back...

You have so , so many fab vintage photos. I really enjoy them. (singing along with "To Sir With Love".) Good thing you can't hear me!

Tete- You really have some wonderful old pieces of artwork and vintage things. I love that you share them here. And..To Sir With Love? The first movie I ever went to....ohhh..the memories...and everyone told me I reminded them of Pamela (the girl that had the big crush on Sidney Portier)...and Oh..I loved how Lulu sang that song. What fun vintage photos to look at. Things were simpler but I love all we have now too. Hope you have had a big thaw there and are seeing some sunshine.

Love the pics! Love that woodwork! But someone probably painted it white like the people did to the beautiful woodwork at 1515
