it's been a long, short day...

this morning was nice...
but it didn't last long...
was up most of the night, so I wanted to get out and get things done so I could go back to bed...
some things are looking not so fine...
some are holding their own...
still not what they usually are...
see the leaves on the ground?
stressed for sure...
sedum getting ready to do it's thing...
tomato growing up through the bird cage...
Saturday, Craig and Tia went to a hummingbird get together at our friend's home and they played bingo...
Craig won this...
love the spindle stake...
and this one...
which will be so fun for fall...
we worked the side yard this morning...
dug and divided the hostas...
got 3 plants from 1...
pulled a bunch of the dead plants out of here...
probably should have just pulled them all...
nothing looks really good...
we didn't get the rain...
but back in the high 80s by Thursday...
it was 93 at 10:30 this morning when we got done...
HI was 100...
DH got the tomatoes weeded and Craig and I raked leaves...
I have had 2 naps today and in between it's been babies...
the guys took turns when I was down holding one that isn't doing very well...
it's going to take time...
they are starting to void on their own...
they are 10-14 day from having a potty box...
hard keeping them dry and clean...
well, have a good night...
I am popping in and checking you out quickly when I can...
but no time to leave comments...
have a great night...

for you...

just a little something for your desk top background...
left click to enlarge and then right click and save to background...
been up with the critter babies...
they are doing better...
another week of mostly sleeping and then they will begin to play more...
they get tuckered out so fast right now...
and so do I...

summer is just flying by...

where does time go when it leaves here?
it flies away on the song birds' wings...
and while most of you might be doing this right about now...
I'm here with poopie duties...
the vinegar didn't work...
they were starting to dehydrate...
had one crashing on me today...
it was a long night last night...
and a long day today...
they have been separated...
and they cried and cried...
but they have gotten used to it...
and no more butt sucking going on around here...
cracked open a bottle of pedialyte...
that stuff is only good for 24 hours...
and babies won't use the whole thing...
so you need to freeze it into ice cubes...
which last about a year in the freezer...
so if you have little ones around and they get sick...
remember that...
saves money and you have it on hand at all times...

we have gotten a little bit of rain this afternoon...
cooled things off but the humidity went back up again...

got a mess of sweet corn, fresh from the stalk, this week...
have 3 ears left for the weekend...
waiting on the tomatoes to blush so I can start picking...
some things look ok, some things are toast and the leaves keep falling...

there's just not a lot to take photos of right now...
so french post card images will have to do...

I'll be around to see you all sometime this weekend...
I have hopped in on some, but didn't have time to leave a comment...
we have a just a few things to do this weekend...
maybe divide our one and only hosta...
a little mowing, the grass is toast, too...
raking up the leaves...

have a great night, girls...
I'm heading for bed...

Pink Saturday...

our rose of sharon...
as the sun was going down...
there's just nothing prettier in the yard right now...
we are in our second heat wave...
and it's been hot and humid forever, it seems...
but with the blooms of late summer...
I know it will be over so soon...
enjoy your PINK SATURDAY!

fed again...
asleep...
need to catch up on laundry and everything else...
stay tuned...
aren't you glad I didn't post pictures...

it is time...

II Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

...to pray for our country...
our leaders...
ourselves...

I do not like to bring politics into my blog...
but prayer is another thing...
and we are in trouble...
BIG trouble...
our government needs to lead by following Christ...
pray for their souls...
pray that they kneel before they make decisions for all of us...
they need to serve God first before they can serve us...
just pray...
I know we must be in the last days...
and things are so difficult for so many already...
they think they are playing a silly game...
but it's real people and real lives at stake...
it's a way of life...
it's our childrens' and grandchildrens' future...
what have we left them with?
the change begins with each one of us...
each of us kneeling before God for help...
for Him to lead us out of all the political poison that has claimed our homes, our land...
pray...

are you tired of sweating your socks off?

me too...
but it could be worse...
we could be slip sliding all over the place...
worrying about power lines coming down...
wearing 15 pounds of clothes...
so grab an ice cube out of the freezer and slap it on your forehead...
wet a towel and throw it around your neck...
fill a bucket with cold water and stick your feet in it...
eat a tub of ice cream...
and enjoy the warm weather while we have it...
are you cooler yet?

are you a complainer...
I am...
trying to positive today...
getting a better attitude with all the heat and yuck...
going back to stick my head in the freezer...
how do you beat the heat?
I am going to bring some dirt inside so I can play in it...
that is if we can dig some up...
the yard and beds have cracks in them...
think snow!

Support, support support...

your local humane associations...
so folks like us...
can keep saving lives like these...

monetary donations are always accepted...
but there are so many others things you can do...
first, is to adopt from a local shelter...
and there are fees, but they have them for a reason...
they could give these guys away...
but they are screening to see if you will invest in a pet...
chances are if you pay the fees, which by no means covers the expense of getting them to the adoption point...
that you will continue to take good care of your animals...
our kittens are tested for feline aids and leukemia...
the top two killers...
they are wormed...
but most importantly, someone has taken the time to hand raise these babies...
and they will be used to human contact and end up being the best cuddlers you could ever want...
but there are more things you can do...

donate your time...

just one day a month or a year...
they need handled and petted and loved...
they need help on adoption days...
they need people will to go at anytime of the day or night to rescue and pick up stranded animals and drop them off where they will be taken care of...
we are on 24 hour call...
we have taken off in the middle of the night to pick up litters who need our help...

when you are cleaning out closets, cabinets and storage tubs...
don't throw out that old towel, throw rug or blanket...
we always need bedding...
small, shallow dishes...
old plastic containers for feeding or small litter boxes...
and of course the most common items...
food, litter, and toys...
cages, pet taxis and kennels...

and please, please spay and neuter your animals!
the shelters are so full...
and so many will never find forever homes...

remember spring?

well, with the heat starting to climb back into the 90s...
it's kind of hard to think about it...
but it's too hot and nasty to play in the beds...
and things are pretty much the way they are going to be until the frost comes...
now's the time to start planning your spring...
time to make diagrams, if you do that...
time to start looking for bulbs at the stores...
time to think about color...
height...
because gardening is a gentle balance of enjoying what is happening today...
with dreams of what is coming...
tulips, daffodils and crocus scream spring and rebirth...
I have a row of daffodils I want to dig and spread around all over...
they came from my father in law years ago...
and they have multiplied so well...
I do my spring bulbs in September- first of October, depending on the weather...
I like my beds to just happen...
especially with the spring bulbs...
and I am going to snag up some more crocus and tulip bulbs this year...
throw them all in a basket and let my guys go out and plant them...
so I can be surprised and amazed again next spring...
so if you're bored, get out the catalogs, google spring bulbs and go back and look at your spring photos...
and start dreaming...

just another day...

not too many more of these are left to go...
then we will cut the stalks down...
some catapillars are eating the leaves on the walnut...
tomato plant gone crazy...
between the japanese beetles and the heat, the fern look bad...
we cut the dead off today...
not sure what to do next with this...
roses and everything else was soaked with dew this morning...
too wet to work outside until things dried up a bit...
Boofy caught a locust while we were walking around this morning...
the corn is huge now...
I like the sunlight on the fence...
we spent some time outside today and then in the afternoon it was cooking time...
while it's still cool...
we made spaghetti and meat loaf...
enough for a few days...
watched Holmes Inspection today...
recorded it from last night...
played on the computer a little...
but the babies took a lot of time today...
trying to get their poopies straightened out after having cow's milk is never fun or easy...
they have been crying with belly aches the last 2 days off and on...
and today it all finally came out...
we have had to change their bedding 4 times today...
poor guys...
and we have a butt sucker...
yippee...
who might have to go into isolation...
haven't had one of those in awhile...
it's not good for the one doing it or the one it's being done to...
the butt sucker will ingest urine and poop, not good...
and the suckee will be over stimulated and end up with the poopies, not good either...
so we pull the sucker and put it in it's own little kennel...
all alone...
and we have to do that until they are off the bottle and stop nursing...
all is finally calm and quiet...
I have been trying to nap here and there today, too...
so, I'm heading for bed...
night...
