recycle, reuse and keep it out of the landfills...

it's been a busy day...
started off so much cooler and then we got .2 of rain right off the bat...
so a whole truck load of block went to use...
reuse...
it all came from a house that was torn down just 2 houses north of the tracks from us...
very vintage salt glazed blocks...
4 part...
and this is what we have been using for the past 4-5 years here at the shed door...
I am short...
so I need a little step up to get in there...
so the blocks were just laying around and you know how I am about using  what we've got...
and they served their purpose...
and will be repurposed again...
just not sure how yet...
but that's another post...
so we tried them this way and that way...
and finally this way...
now mind you it has just rained enough to make a little mud...
and of course all of the pavers had to be moved again...
but my son stuck to it until he was finished...
and we need to do some more scrubbing on the blocks...
with soap...
but this is the idea...
I thought this was much better than a raised flower bed...
and then we stacked the left overs on the steps that have no rail...
and just topped them with stepping stones...
and it looks better than before...
I just need a way to cover the ends...
maybe more stepping stones...
and they are as straight as you can get them...
the are is not square and the pavers are not square...
then we came in and made chicken and noodles...
mashed potatoes...
corn on the cob...
and...
can you smell it?
black berry pie...
and I ate too much...
I might have to swing this off...
have a great evening!

A great way to reuse something Tete! I could see filling those open ends with sedum, especially the low growing ones that hang.. that would be beautiful. Fill the holes in with soil and then plant the sedums towards the openings. Of course, you'd need to find ones in 4" pots or smaller in order to get them in there but it would make for some great texture!

Oh the sedium sounds perfect for the holes...I saw some in a post somewhere that was completely different from what I'd seen before.

You are my kind of person, Tete, repurpose and reuse.
