our weekend...so far...

Friday, after supper, DH and I were sitting on the deck...
see the spider web...
one thin line...
I want to know a few things and I am going to ask God when I get to Heaven...
if He let's me in...
and one of them is...
where did he come up with the idea of a bug that had thread coming out it's butt?
and a bug that has a light in it's butt...
just to name two questions...
like I was saying...
we were sitting out here...
I already had the camera...
we decided to go for a ride and look at the dam...
someone had said it was all dried up and people were fishing off of the dam...
and there they were...
you know it's dry when the dam is dry...
so that was Friday night...
big night in a corn field...
but the clouds were rolling in and covered the sky so we missed the meteor shower...
so this is Saturday...
caught Tori napping...
you know it's so hard being a baby...
but one click and she was saying...
FEED ME NOW!
and that's about all that happened...
feeding and playing with babies...
and being quiet when they are napping...
we got .2 of an inch of rain last evening...
we could sure use some more...
need prayers for a couple families here in town...
a most beautiful lady passed away at 93...
she was such a pleasure to know and worked hard for the town...
and she loved genealogy...
we shared a passion for everything old...
Vivian was a good egg...
and another pillar of our small community...
sweet, dear Abby...
went in for surgery, they found cancer and she stroked on the table...
she has been moved to a nursing facility with hospice and has only days...
this town will not be the same without her...
she owns and puts out our weekly paper...
along with her daughter in law...
who has been battling cancer and is doing chemo now...
this woman and her late hubby have covered and photographed every event forever here...
from dinners to fish fries, ball games, plays, Christmas programs, Halloween parties...
festivals, fires, fund raisers, city wide rummage sales...
you name it, they were there with cameras in hand...
Tom died in a car wreck several years ago...
they were farmers...
and they are the quiet kind of town heroes...
they slip in and out, do their thing...
constant, timeless, friendly, giving, loving, faithful...
and I am so going to miss her...
she was the first to publish my poems in the paper...
and encouraged me to keep writing them and sending them in...
everyone, everyone loves Abby...
it's just not going to be the same around here...

I have been so blessed to have known them both...
please keep them all  in your prayers...

So enjoyed reading your post, I felt like I was sitting across the table chatting. Great job,
Lisa

Praying for the whole community, as losing those special people is going to make a difference with everyone.

Isn't it strange, both our posts for yesterday were 'in memory' posts?! Mine for a young man I never met, and your post about 2 friends.
Bless you and your community!

I am so sorry for Oaklands losses. It is hard for some people to realize the impact one person has on a small community and how they can never be replaced. Hope the paper can continue...a community needs to read about the biggest mushroom, the school sports scores and reunions.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friends. I rally miss living in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. Such a sense of togetherness there. BTW, Tori is adorable!

Losing such wonderful friends is so difficult. It always seems like all the good ones go first. I think God has plans but I have questions. One of these days. Like you said, if He let's us in! Love to you today for your tragic losses. Anne

Tete, The babies are adorable. So glad you are caring for them. Sorry about your friends. Sorry for your loss. I hope you get rain; we need it too. God is in control but like you say, we often wonder "why." Be sure to visit Sherry at Country Wings in Phoenix regarding the miracle makeover. Thanks for your sweet comment. I do indeed LOVE to travel, and God has really blessed me with opportunities. I am so thankful.
Hugs, Beth
