the story behind the yellow roses...

yellow roses are my favorite...
because...
I know no one asked...
but I am going to tell you anyway...
is because it's the only present I remember my dad giving me...
a real present...
yellow roses in a yellow lady planter...
when I was in the hospital the night before I had my tonsils out...
when I was 7...

I want to thank Gail and Jettie for kind words on my Monday post about losing a wonderful person in our town and a friend to all...
it is a hard loss for everyone...
and to Ann for birthday wishes on today's posts...
NanaDiana for sending me an ecard...
and for my bestie calling me so many times today!

it's been a good birthday...
a lazy birthday...
and I missed my dad today...
I missed being a kid and blowing out candles...
those were the days...
I missed the cake and ice cream and mom and grandma fussing about it all...
I missed my grandpa...
and the dollar bill...
365 days until I turn 50...
wow, where did all those years go?

so yellow roses for me...
for this week...
for my birthday...

Oh Tete Sweetie...
Happy Birthday Sweetie. I am so sorry I am late for the birthday party.

What a beautiful memory of your sweet Daddy, that you remember those yellow roses. Yellow roses are for the number one lady in your life. I always send them to my Momma on my birthday, thanking her for life.

Tete I am also sorry to read about the loss of your friend. I will be sending up some prayers for the family and for you as well. I know you are a close family in your small town.

Hope you got a cake and some ice cream for this beautiful occasion sweetie. I wish I lived close, I would have been knocking on your door early this morning. Have a beautiful birthday with many, many more to come. Love and hugs, Sherry

Yellow Roses are my own dear sister's favorite flower.

I was so touched by this story. Thank you, dear girl, for sharing.

((hugs))

Happy Belated Birthday to you, Tete, I'm sorry I'm late.

I love roses, can't grow them worth anything, though.
My favorite was always yellow, followed by a lovely pail peach/orange rose similar to tropicana, that we had bloom one Christmas.
