just piddle fartin' around...

that's what my mom called it...
but I got some new toys this weekend...
a girl my son went to school with grew up, got married, has 2 beautiful kids...
and she has the most amazing garage sales...
and she's one of my friends on facebook...
so, Sunday morning, she threw some pics up and titled it Garage Sale...
had each photo priced...
and of course, I picked out some things...
like this olive green basket with a barn red star on it...
2 metal black stars...
I know most of you are going white, but I tell you...
black punches like nothing else and it's basic neutral...
I know, I wasn't into black either...
but I used to watch Trading Spaces...
remember that?
LOL
anyway, my favorite designer was Edward Walker...
and he added a little black to every design...
didn't matter on the room...
and it made it look so much better...
gave the room depth and a sophistication...

and this big, I mean big...
metal shallow bowl...
with a star...
big enough to hold a lot of stuff...
and this 4 foot fall table runner...
quilted with oak and maple leaves...
little acorns...
fall without knocking your eyes out...
you know how some things fall are just on the verge of blinding you?
not this...
love it...
so this is where the piddle fartin' around comes in...
just a little sofa table in front of the kitchen windows...
this basket was on the kitchen table...
and these books were on the coffee table in the living room...
this used to sit on the mantel...
this was on the kitchen table, too...
add one of the new stars...
and poof!
it's done...
well. got some more piddle fartin' around to do...
and the other stuff, like laundry and washing dishes...
cleaning  up the living room after the cats and dogs drug out all their toys...
then a walk...
60 now- up to 69 today for a high...
got windows open...
do you?
probably ought to pick tomatoes again...
yeah, I know...
 I've got it so hard...
have a beautiful day...
God Bless...

What a great way to have a garage sale! Love it. You found some beautiful things there. I like punches of black in a room. Back when I was a teenager I was painting side pieces black and my mother thought I was nuts. Well, I WAS nuts but that is beside the point!

You did a wonderful job with the vignette on top of that table, Tete. It is homey and lovely. I'm with you- some of those fall colors are just blinding! xo Diana

Hi Tete, Your 'title' caught my eye because that describes exactly what I'm doing today too!
Your new display looks so perfect, you found some really neat things. I'll have to try that with black...I never think to use it.
Have a super nice day!

Well....you piddle-fart pretty well, my dear! lol! You created a beautiful vignette. I agree that a tad of black in a room does add another dimension, a bit of sophistication, and instant warmth. Love your finds! :)

LOL!!! Piddle Fartin...I wish I had been able to read your post before I posted...For my definition of "tweaking" I could have added on >>"Tete's one and only Original (per mama) Definition:....PIDDLE FARTIN'...Dang that is original. :-p

Love it ALL!!!! 'specially the basket with star. loving that shade of green. and the green table runner too. And I have ALWAYS ALWAYS liked something black in every room. It just doesn't seem complete til there is ONE item that POPS right out at ya.
ANOTHER thing we have in common. ((smiles)) You had fun tweaking, girl. And I am feeling it with you. *WE didn't hit 45 today and there is a real good chance of snow tonite (less than an inch they are sayin...) and possibly more tomorrow before noon, but I am praying the temps will rise so that it aint so!!!!! Grey rainy day, but I made homemade cinnamon granola from a recipe Dianna gave me. smells heavenly in the house. HUGS and cheers sent your way. Thanks for sharing your FUN and your "name" for it. Can't wait to use it on Kurt when I am feather rearranging and tweakin. He will look at me and say DO WHAT???
hahahahahha. xoxoxoxo

I'm back! Forgot to tell you I love your pop out player music selections. I will set it to play and then minimize so that the doggies have it to listen to when I am not here... :-)
I just heard the Classical Gas by Eric Clapton playing, and meant to ask you if you have the Mannheim Steamroller CD, Classical Gas??? Love it! :-) Okay, TTYL!! xo
