Dr. Rutherford's home...

he was our first educated medical doctor...
he came here in 1847 from Paxtang, PA on horseback...
and he liked this place enough to make it his home...
he lived, doctored, married twice and died here...
well loved and respected...
and this is where I shot Eli's photos...
if he had been a girl...
it would have been among the flowers...

Craig is going to be volunteering here again this summer...
and things need tended to...

we are not part of the historical group anymore...
but we help out when we can...

there are many buildings on the site...
and its run on donations...

its one of my favorite places to be...

but its not wheel chair friendly...

so I go where I can...

but the front porch is wonderful to just sit on and watch the cars go by...

a bird nest, and not sure there are babies there or not...

the old depot...

the Meeting House...

its used as the visitor center...
and has the running water and bathroom...

the front door of the doctor's house...

its full of fun things...

this was the front door, until the railroad came through and then they moved it to the side where the long porch is now...

the cast iron water spicket...

from the back...

the drying shed and summer kitchen are unattached...

roses by the Meeting House...

just a light shade of pink...

a very old rose...
hope you enjoyed the bloomers here...
even unattended, they still look pretty...
;)

This place is cared for by volunteers? Wow, those are good people, and I enjoyed this tour with you via blog. That front porch is a beauty.

What a beautiful place. I love that shade of pink in the roses, and I'm not a 'pink' person.
