morning sun, afternoon clouds, sun spots and Ethel...

momma's ferns are doing great this year...
so far, until the Japanese beetles arrive...

it was a nice morning with a gentle breeze...

a little hazy, but it will get worse as the summer goes along...

in the afternoon, I weeded the veggie garden...

I probably should open the box of fertilizer...
haven't put anything on this except a handful of epsom salts...

we have a few blooms on the tomatoes...

and we need to buy a clothes line this week and get these racks ready for the growth that's going to happen...

have been wanting to do this for some time...
the scarecrows have been resting under the deck since last fall...

the heads were awful and needed replaced...
and I have a whole folder of images to share later...

and there she is...
Ethel...
I need to hit the resale shop for some decent duds for her...
so she will be redressed soon...

and some thunder boomers came through to the south and missed us...

and on the way back inside to do supper, the sun popped back out...
we got a walk in after supper and just sat down out front...
when the rain began...
we got just under a half an inch last evening...
the slow, steady kind of rain that just falls straight down...
we sat on the deck and then I laid down out there for about an hour...
just listening to the rain hit the tin roof...
I am so glad our builder understood the importance of the tin roof...
and just smiled when I told him what we wanted...
we are going to be digging peonies today and moving them here...
got several ideas, but not sure which will come to pass just yet...
not sure what we will do after that, or how long that is going to take...
so will take the camera and show you the progress later on...
have a blessed day and enjoy this transitional time between spring and summer...
for the heat will be coming before we know it...
;)

Your garden and deck are an amazing and tranquil place for you. I love seeing your garden shots, and your deck is the best-dressed one I've ever seen!

Oh, those dreaded Japanese beetles! We also have those stink bugs! Some of them even thought it smart to try to "winter over" in the house! Everytime we found one, down the commode it went!:-)

Love the sound of rain falling on a tin roof!

Have a good Wednesday!

Oh how I would love to sit on the deck with you, listening to a gentle rain fall on that tin roof. I can just sit and listen for hours, with a good book.

Oh, and our scare crow would be called myrtle. I'll have to explain that in one of my blogs.

Your yard is delightful and your porch sounds perfect for sitting and sipping ice tea or taking a nap. Our uncle and aunt in Tennessee had a wonderful porch with the most incredible swing-we loved it.
Hope you have a great afternoon & evening.

Tete, your veggie garden is just gorgeous! Love the chairs and the scarecrow. :) My tomatoes grew big time while we were gone. I need to stake them asap.

Tete, I love that you used your ice cream parlor chairs for tomato cages. So clever. You are a good garden with your fellows helping too. xoxo,Susie

Yes it was so nice out today, started and ended my day on the front porch. Wish the summer would stay this way but I know it won't. Anxious to see Ethel's makeover!
