its been a dandy birthday weekend!

well, as you know...
DH took Friday off for a 3 day weekend...
so we got up and headed out for a morning shopping in Paris...
hit Walmart first and got a cardigan, a denim shirt and a sweat shirt...
goofed around in the garden section and found little mums for less than a $1 each, so grabbed a purple one...
I was thrilled and excited that I had even gotten flowers for my birthday...
so we headed to rural king for bird seed...

and while DH wend in to get that...
Craig and I looked outside at the flowers...
and guess what we found!

we have been looking for 3 years for a yellow knock out rose...
and there they sat...
so we picked the best one...
this is called Radsunny and says is the only fragrant knock out rose...
isn't she pretty?

and I found this, too...
a deeper color cone flower than what I have...
the color is PowWow Wild Berry...

and here is my baby mum...

cone flower and mum went into the front bed...
the knock out is on the west side of the shed facing the street...

and the sedum is really opening up...

and we have honey bees enjoying them...
so that was a good day...
My son, Doug, and Paula came in on Friday night to camp in the yard this weekend...
so they show up and set up the tent...

Paula had to meet an old friend from California Saturday morning for breakfast...
so we started painting the deck...
that lasted until lunch time when Myra went into labor...
and about 5pm, the first one finally popped out...
and then another...

Doug and Paula got back to see the 3rd one born...
Craig had to work, so he came in right before the 4th arrived...

DH and I were grabbing a quick hamburger in between babies when Doug came in...
he had brought chicken thighs to cook out...
so I told him to go ahead and cook them...
but we had to eat now and get back to helping Myra...
they were so good- stole a bite or two later on...
and we manned our stations again...
had to help a little with all of them...
and she was getting so tired...
I kept feeling another one in there...
so we slept in shifts last night...
and still nothing by this morning...

so while the kids were packing up...
we started working on tacos in here....
and right when we are about to eat...
someone hollered, there's another one!

and there is was...
so 5 babies...
4 born on my birthday...
yippee skippy...
and we all got to spend time together...
and eat and all that...
Myra is a good mama and is taking really good care of the babies...
they are fighting over nipples and slapping each other...
they are huge and strong and can't wait until they can run around and pounce...

so what I am planning is...
starting back on the painting tomorrow...
a little bit every day...
so I don't go down...
and keeping an eye on the new family...
got to clean house and get the laundry caught up sometime...
hope y'all had a great weekend, too!
I will get better photos of the babies this week!
;)

What beautiful babies, and what a great human family to help them into the world. Some moms just have to have a bit of help.
I love the rose, I think yellow roses are my favorite and the coneflowers are really pretty. You have got a lot of pretties for your birthday.

I am glad you had a great birthday weekend! I think I will see if Charleston has any yellow roses left?
