an experiment in container gardening...

as most of you know, I am very limited on movement and what I can do...
we have talked about doing this for several years now...
and this year, we are going for it...
green pepper, cabbage and watermelon in one large pot...

3 super sonic tomato plants here...
the only thing actually in the ground, except for some cabbage plants that are in the flower beds...

a small patch of coleus and celosia are in the ground in the corner here...
hoping for some bright colors to bring the bees in to pollinate...

this is where the fun starts...
we moved the old loungers in here, which have seen their better days...
and used them to elevate the pots...
I planted green beans, contender, in all of them...

and there is the same number of pots on the other side...
and I have a lot more seed, so when these are spent, I am planting again...
the goal is to get at least 2 plantings, maybe three in the growing season...

I need 3 more tomato plants to put on the other side and trying to decide which ones to go with...
someone gave us all these pots and planters last year...
so we are going for it...
we can sit down and plant, weed and pick...
I will post photos as it comes along and let you know how this works...

the first clematis of the season opened yesterday morning...

I got this planted on Sunday...
in grandma's old wash tub...

a bumble bee with a bad wing...
it was crawling along the grass, unable to fly...

and the fun project of the day was this...
wait until you see how it came out!

this old card table is coming in handy for getting everything painted...

I had a so so kind of day...
not as much energy and get up and go as the day before...
but, I did ok...

DH went to the funeral and so glad he left me behind...
his cousin, Billy, came in from Topeka...
and they were both pall bearers...
DH rode with him to the cemetery...
Billy dropped him off at the funeral home when it was all finished...
but, thankfully, when he saw that the van didn't start, he turned around and went back to help...
after having the battery checked, they decided it was the starter...
DH called me, I called the mechanic...
and Billy brought him home...
had a nice visit with him before he left...

it could have been a real mess if I had been with him...
and trying to get the can towed and looked at...
thankfully, it hadn't done this on one of our shopping trips with the van loaded with groceries or on one of our drives out in the middle of no where...
;)
waiting for the mechanic to call and let me know what's going on and how long its going to take...

got a photo shoot today...
a man and his daughter who is in town to see him...
;)
will let you know how that goes, too...
;0)

Hi Tete, Are you doing photography as a business now? I know you have talent, from reading your blog over the past 5 or so years. I like your container plantings. Hope it goes well for you. The washtub is awesome. I have 2 round ones and a square one. I have planted tubs with sweet potato vine and trailing petunias in the past and they look really nice. I hope you have a great garden this year! Love the coleus too! :)

Tete , so glad Billy didn't leave your husband behind. I love your sit down garden. That will make life easier. It's going to be pretty at your place. I love all the wonderful colors of coleuses. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
