our 70% chance of rain didn't happen...

it started out cloudy today...
almost blooming...
and I was sick yesterday and got up that way again this morning...
but we headed for Chucktown anyway...
redid my booth...
forgot my camera so I can't show you...
stopped at Doug's...
Dollar Tree...
Walmart...
KFC and A&W had 49 cent ice cream cones...
so snagged 3 of those to eat on the way home...
and we did lunch and took a walk...
and then throughout the day, I shot things here and there...
my medicine is making me sick to my stomach...
it is a side effect...
and I still have a week to go...
DH took a nap this afternoon...
and I got one late afternoon...
then about 2 hours before it got dark...
we were outside again...
and DH started a fire...
while I took these...
everything is so pretty and will only get better...
it's 76 out now...
just perfect if it weren't for all the bugs...
don't know why they are so bad...
I have more cans to plant tomorrow...
so DH and I sat around the fire and watched the neighbors come and go...
tonight is our HS graduation night...
and we listened to the sounds of the neighborhood...
weekend sounds...
you know they are different than weekday sounds...
and this late, there were no mowers...
just people doing their thing...
dogs barking...
kids playing...
and the sound of the fire consuming it's fuel...
how quickly fire consumes whatever it touches...
and I thought about the things in my life that have consumed me...
earthly things...
things that when you have just enough and keep it in the proper perspective...
warm you and are a comfort...
but when I go too far...
to the extreme...
I get too close and it consumes me...
like shopping...
collecting things...
things that I can't take with me when I go...
things that don't really matter...
people matter...
my family...
my friends...
I need to be a collector of people, not things...
a collector of moments...
sunrises and sunsets...
rainy days...
sunny days...
every smile from my kids...
every hug...
every kiss...
every hello and every goodbye...
for it's all those things that matter...
that we need to hold close...
and keep them safe...
and treasure...
not the clearance racks...
not the newest thing...
or the oldest thing...
and the most precious thing we have on earth is God's embrace...
we need to spend more time there...
and then we would know a blessing when we saw one...
and we would really know what treasures are...
amen...

Happy Pink Saturday !

this pink weekend is just a little tour around here...
with pinks scattered...
here and there...
always a work in progress...
things are coming up all over...
some things just make you grin...
going to paint the bike white and there are pink wave petunias in the basket...
dianthus...
a washtub of pink...
bird bath serves all kinds of critters...
pink and yellow columbine in the front flower bed invite the hummers...
iris are in bloom and the peonies behind them are about to open...
the very north end of the yard...
is shady...
and full of white blooms...
my son, taking a break...
tins cans make wonderful planters...
the pansies love them...
and so does the pink dianthus...
something's always blooming around here...
sometimes it's pink and sometimes not...
Happy PS!

another Thursday...

I have been having this thing with Thursdays...
every week for the last 5...
Thursdays have been my day to sleep in...
crazy, huh?
so a quick post here and then back to work...
here in the mother's garden...
we have planted onion sets in between the begonias...
they are also through out several beds and in the little wheel barrow...
the rose is about to bloom...
there are so many buds on it!
can't wait!
this is my largest iris bed that I have left and we have dug off of the back side many times to give away to friends...
this is behind the park bench now...
say awe!
this reminded me of my doctor's visit last Saturday...
hairy tongue and all...
these flowers are so beautiful the closer you look at them...
rose bush again...
ferns are 4 foot tall...
buds on the hydrangea...
and bugs...
we are having the worst time with bugs!
the only good thing about winter...
last week we couldn't go outside without being bombarded with them...
down my top, up my nightgown...
geez...
had to get beaten when we came in to kill all the bugs crawling!
then if there is only one...
you feel like there are more...
and we finally had a dry morning with no wind...
so my can of spray paint finally got used...
look at this!
cool!
I have so many blogging buddies who have inspired me to spray till it's gone...
need to get a few more cans this week...
think this is going into my booth!
oh yeah, it was gold...
lilies...
pink tiger...
look at this frame!
it was gold, too!
I am so spraying more things white...
this is a before...
battle of the seed pods is in progress...
cleaned this out...
verbena...
got these yesterday...
I was very good...
only got 2 -4 packs...
and dianthus...
was looking for more plants to put in cans...
so pretty...
changing it up...
see the hole?
Robbie can get out of there...
had that fan blocking it...
so had to redo this area...
took the short bench out and put this chair here...
love it...
and this fence with a faucet and bucket...
it was a fountain and the motor quit...
so stuck my bright pinkie in here...
and the fence part covers the hole...
and under the chair..
the little bench is here and one of the shelves we picked up at the city wide...
good for tin pots...
from above...

cooking off a pot of fresh green beans with potatoes and bacon...
you should smell it in here...
omgosh!
and then there's a pot of fresh broccoli and cauliflower on, too!

got more things I would like to get done, but I am getting a little sore so going to slow it down a tad...
it's 71 today, so hoping all my northern buddies are having some warmer weather!
hope you are having a fantastic day and that God's blessings are raining down on you!
I'm off to conquer a hamper full of laundry!
