do you have a favorite place?

this is Craig's...
and here is mine...
come sit a spell...
I am so glad you could share my favorite place...
it's the best place to pray...
to forget all your worries...
to listen to the birds sing...
and feel the breeze blow...
and it stirs the sweet smells that calm even the roughest storms...
this is peace...

running behind...

wanted to get out early and get done what we could...
weeding today and a trip to the deli...
taking the babies out to play this afternoon...
because we have 10 days of heat coming in...
and my behind will not be out here for awhile...
so here are a few of the photos I took today...
(I took 300+)
so I would have something to post besides housework...
we weeded just about everywhere...
and watered...
it was cold out this morning...
this is before...
now this is a work in progress...
DH and Craig think we need enough pavers to do the whole walkway out to the road...
and we are going to redo the driveway and get smaller gray chip gravel...
there is just no extra money in the budget this summer...
so things are on hold until fall and all the overtime...
and we sat and talked and played with the dogs and cats...
I threw on a denim shirt to begin with, but had to take it off within a couple of hours...
carpet samples are great to sit on while you weed. plant and play in the dirt...
I got photos of 2 other towns this morning along with a crop duster and fields...
the babies playing in the shade...
tomato worm damage...
we dusted this evening after we watered...
we filled this little bucket many times...
it's great to use a small bucket for your waste...
one of the handiest things I keep in my shed...
and then we cleaned this up...
ate lunch and came out and did it again...
I am tired but wanted to cram as much outside time in as possible...
I have the next 10 days to get caught up on here...
and I will be around to visit before you can whistle dixie...
have a great night...
I'm going to sleep like a baby...

recycle, reuse and keep it out of the landfills...

it's been a busy day...
started off so much cooler and then we got .2 of rain right off the bat...
so a whole truck load of block went to use...
reuse...
it all came from a house that was torn down just 2 houses north of the tracks from us...
very vintage salt glazed blocks...
4 part...
and this is what we have been using for the past 4-5 years here at the shed door...
I am short...
so I need a little step up to get in there...
so the blocks were just laying around and you know how I am about using  what we've got...
and they served their purpose...
and will be repurposed again...
just not sure how yet...
but that's another post...
so we tried them this way and that way...
and finally this way...
now mind you it has just rained enough to make a little mud...
and of course all of the pavers had to be moved again...
but my son stuck to it until he was finished...
and we need to do some more scrubbing on the blocks...
with soap...
but this is the idea...
I thought this was much better than a raised flower bed...
and then we stacked the left overs on the steps that have no rail...
and just topped them with stepping stones...
and it looks better than before...
I just need a way to cover the ends...
maybe more stepping stones...
and they are as straight as you can get them...
the are is not square and the pavers are not square...
then we came in and made chicken and noodles...
mashed potatoes...
corn on the cob...
and...
can you smell it?
black berry pie...
and I ate too much...
I might have to swing this off...
have a great evening!

WHITE WEDNESDAY and another project...

more free blocks, but some with a twist...
toppers for a raised flower bed...
that's what I'm thinking...
but where?
the rest are just some whites in the yard this morning...
it's a lot cooler today and we are getting a shower right now...
been out playing in the rain...
check out Faded Charm for more whites...
you all have a great week!
