forever in God's arms...

praying for those still here...
still fighting...
every day...
never forget...

10 years ago we were changed....
10 years of sending our children to fight a new war...
10 years of conspiracy theories...
10 years of mourning for families who have lost loved ones...
10 years of politics...

10 years...
and it still stings...
10 years...
and we still cry...
10 years...
we still mourn...

10 years...
this is not a celebration of evil...
but the ability, with God, to overcome...

IF WE, THE PEOPLE, GOD'S PEOPLE...
TAKE JUST A MOMENT...
TO EMBRACE THOSE WE LOVE...
HUG THEM LIKE IT'S THE LAST TIME TODAY...
REACH OUT TO SOMEONE WE DO NOT KNOW...
SHARE SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE NEEDS MORE...
IF...
WE LOVE MORE THAN THEY HATE...
ONE BY ONE...
WE CHANGE THE WORLD...
IF WE ALL JUST TOOK A MOMENT TODAY TO REST IN GOD'S ARMS...
IMAGINE...
GOD'S LOVE SHINING THROUGH US...

transitions...

color can still be found in the yard...
but it's not here for long...
I am going to transplant that spider plant and bring it in...
and hope my dingy cat doesn't eat it...
so just walk around and snoop all you want...
hope you are having a good weekend...
DH and I have been to the deli, came back and got lunch done...
not feeling so hot...
so I am on my way to bed...

cooked off a pan of pears this morning with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg...
yeah, they're really good...
has anyone ever made or heard of a pear pie?

I haven't, but why not?
they cook up like apples...
I think it might be something that we try soon...
or cheese cake with pears....
how bad could it be?

it was a good day...

I haven't felt this good for a couple months now...
we started out picking pears this morning...
this is our haul and we picked 2 pull walmart bags for the food pantry that Craig took up this evening...
these have not been sprayed at all!
my mom used to make the best homemade apple sauce ever...
and I am thinking maybe I could make homemade pear sauce this weekend...
going to wrap some in newspapers and put in a bushel basket, good thing I'm a dealer and have those hanging out here, and store them in the shed this fall...
things are winding down in the flower beds...
spider webs are taking over...
even the pots are looking tired...
the cone flowers are seeding...
I worked a little out in the front bed...
this has been watered, but it's still dry as dust...
we ended up with a cart full of stuff...
just the back side of one bed...
spruced up the table a bit...
the sedum have blushed...
and the bees are happy...
a mad dash to get there stores in before winter...
fixed the brick path while I was out here, too...
had a root pushing up 3 of the bricks and it had become a tripping hazard...
so pulled them up real quick, cut that root out, re leveled it and popped them back in...
pulled the weeds out of the pathway and swept that...
cleaned house and Craig did his laundry...
had left overs tonight for supper...
so no fancy cooking needed...
after Steve got home, we picked part of a bag of pears for Kyle and Gretchen...
was talking to him on the phone and he said she loved them...
so he came by here on his way home to pick...
Steve and I went out to wait on him, but it was drizzling, so we went over and had them picked before he got here, so we just handed them off to him in the street...
they were going out to eat so he was in a hurry to get home...

we had supper then and DH and I went for a short drive around town...
I miss driving in the rain...
always loved going to work on rainy days...
shopping on rainy days...
just love driving on rainy days...
I know most people think I am nuts, but for me, it's very calming...
and there you have the highlights of the day...

hope you had a good one, too...

Craig's morning report...

have you ever wanted to sleep in and one of your kids wants to talk non stop?
well, I had an excited boy here this morning...
and I was sleeping so good...
just to tell me that the sun was shining all around us...
here...
and there...
he even grabbed the camera to document it...
he's going to grow up to be a good blogger some day...
but it was raining...
here...
and here...
and here...
there's a reason I don't sleep with a gun under my pillow...
because I might have just shot one of his toes off this morning...
he went out first thing since we have rain coming the next several days to cut that limb off and burn the cocoons...
and after all of that and I am up...
guess where he is...
on the couch...
asleep...
sure wish I had an air horn...
