another busy day...

I really hated doing it...

but we had to run these guys off for a bit...

we needed to work on the island...

Tory helped by watching...

this is the smallest rose bush out there...

so we hit this right after the rain stopped this morning...

the weeding needed done...

if you will notice, the pink flamingos are gone...

this is the second knock out rose I bought...

and I am so excited...

this is the beginning of my very own autumn clematis...

the birds must have planted it for me...

the lots across the street have 2 massive bunches of it...

it started off sprinkling this morning...

then the sun came out...

then a massive storm front came through and rained the rest of the afternoon and evening...

Elmer can find more trouble to get into than all of the others put together...

we have 4 cats of our own and are fostering 2...

I am letting the weeds come up here in the small space...

I cut some roses from all the bushes this morning...

and the birds weren't too upset with us...

since we filled the feeders while we were out there...

these are too small to make a regular bouquet...

but a cheese shaker works well for them...

after lunch, the sun did come out for awhile...

and we headed to the veggie garden...

I found this old spoon while we were weeding...

and there it is...

finally done...

we are going to add another row of green beans in the back, I think...

we have the boards down to walk on back there...

and there it is...

I can't wait until everything grows up around it all...

I will mud in the rest of the yellow onion sets tomorrow...

I am so glad we got this done before the heavy rain fell...

my guys rocked it this weekend!

I am stiff and sore...

but at least the worst of the yard work is over...

we have a new bed to make ready...

and Craig and I can work on it through the week...

tomorrow, I have to get some laundry done...

and some cooking...

the walk we redid yesterday...

its been a cloudy day with spots of rain...

62 right now...

Saturday fun...

we got to a cool morning...

in the 50s, but we layered our clothes and headed out...

we started on the walk...

pulling bricks up in sections and laying the barrier down...

just wanted to send a shout out to the One who makes it all possible...

the roses are abundant this year...

and we worked our way down...

the ground was cool, damp and hard...

so we sat on carpet samples...

and sometimes I used 2...

we just kept plugging away at it until we got it done...

the guys would pull the bricks and scrape them off...

and I would lay the barrier and then the put all the bricks back in place...

leveling as I went...

a few of the bricks became casualties as they were pulled up...

but we used those at the end...

and for borders...

DH filled in the big edge cracks with dirt...

and Craig swept in the sand...

we rushed to get things cleaned up and put away...

the rain had gotten here...

we were back inside just before 1pm for a late lunch...

but its done...

and peonies are about to open...

see...

the corn is really coming up fast...

Doug and his girl friend came last night...

we cooked out on the grill...

made a fire in the pit...

it was chilly and the fire felt good...

then we ate right next to the fire...

it wasn't 20 minutes after we were finished that the rain came again...

and not just sprinkles...

so we grabbed everything and headed inside...

they stayed pretty late last night...

and I had a migraine, so headed to bed when they left...

it was a good day and we got things done...

we used to be like this...

we need to do it again...

and if less people are praying...

we just have to double up to cover for it...

we can pray this nation back on its feet...

its on the radar and moving in...

gray, cloudy and in the 50s again...

might be a good day to nap...

they say you can't catch up on sleep...

but I love trying!
