my guys' busy day...

the guys cleaned out the shed first thing this morning...
after and up and down all night, trying to see a meteor shower that didn't happen...
LOL
then we worked in the veggie garden...
came around and started on the deck, moving the grill off of it...
and sliding a couple of things around up here...
sweeping off the helicopters (again)...

I had DH bring one of the fence sections around and we are now using it to keep Charlie safe on the deck...
it will slide to open...

he really likes it out here...
we are going to have so much fun out here this summer...

he can see what's going on in the yard...

there was a lot of puttering around outside and I, for one, got my nap in...
and then the cooking began this evening...
after a slight delay when the mower guy showed up...

and we ate on the deck...
nothing fancy...

we had to do the cooking out today...
Craig's only day off this weekend...

and that's what was left...
plenty for lunch tomorrow...

then we went for a walk and sat in the yard...
spider wart opened today...

I got this last year...

Lester taking after Craig...

look what someone found in the shed...

and around noon, Craig ran out to the green house just out of town here...
and brought me back a couple of columbine...

I need to find places for them tomorrow...
I have had a couple of not so good days...
just super low on my energy...
so hoping tomorrow is better and I can do something, too...

hope y'all are having a fun and safe weekend...
;0)

got some stuff done around here today, but took all day to get it done...

it was a nice day in the 70s...
got up, did breakfast and threw in a load of bedding after my shower...
and headed out...
this morning we watered and checked things out and I was tired, so came back in...
went back out and worked on this area...

we trimmed this up...
and then I noticed the blooms...

after an email to my twin blogging buddy, Beth at Beyond the Garden Gate...
she told me that it looked like honey suckle...
and I googled it and sure enough...
its honey suckle...
now, my friend gave me this last spring and told me it was a lilac...
looks like ones, too...

got all those helicopters out of there and weeds...
threw in some top soil...
Craig was supposed to bring some more home today...
but would you believe that Walmart is out of top soil?

I did get the carrots and radish planted in here, though...

and our neighbor gave us 3 starts off of her pear tree...
trying to decide where they should go...

and more just basic cleaning out of the beds...

we have enough maple seeds to grow a forest...

but that forest won't be growing in the flower beds now...

a carpet sample to sit on...
one bucket for hand tools and gloves...
the other for weeds...
we had to dump that weed on a few times...

need to work some more on this tomorrow...
we only scratched the surface out here...

rose moss...

it was a good day, but had to rest often...
and I got my nap in...

I am going to head to bed here soon...
just waiting for it to get dark...

and to finish my chocolate ice cream...

probably where I should have spent the day...

and the field behind us was planted in beans today...
look at that dust!
nose has been running this afternoon...
the farmers are hitting the fields hard here...
just north of here they had to up to 5 inches of rain...
so they aren't doing anything right now...

could use some prayers for a man who was hit last night by a car and drug a ways...
in bad shape, might not walk again...
had surgery this afternoon...
keep him and the medical staff in your prayers...
a friend asked for prayers and was putting the word out...
his name is Sheldon...

have a good night...
sleep tight...
and don't let the bedbugs bite...
;0)

it was a much needed day of rest...

for many of us...
Hermie did it well...

and so did Charlie...
and me, but no one was awake to get a photo of  me napping...

wood pecker again...
I slept most of the day...

waited to get my shower after DH got home...
and then he took me and Charlie for a walk...

I got some photos to blog...
the first rose of the season...

had a late supper and then went to bed early again...

the flare is passing...
I guess the key to stopping one is sleeping it off until its gone...
its been working the last few times...
better than flaring for days or weeks...
DH has a four day weekend now to spend with me...
and we have to get some things done around here...
cleaning out the shed is one of them...
I am letting the guys do that on Saturday...
I will just tell them how to do it...
;0)
you know how that goes...
Charlie had no trouble doing a 'down' day with me...
we just cuddled and napped and he was happy with that...
he is working out so well for me...
and he is beginning to get into our routine...
and he loves going outside...
and the walks...
well, the guys push us...
so I guess we ride...
;0)
the neighbors think he's spoiled...
he just knows how to have a good time...

I am late getting this posted...
after sleeping most of the day, I went to bed early, too...
didn't even think about the blog...
I knew I had my photos to post and just forgot...
I think today is going to be laundry...
watering, we only got a tenth of an inch of rain out of that hail storm...
which is ok with us, some around here got up to 5 inches...
we sure don't need that much...
I am sure we will be cooking something or a couple of somethings for the weekend...
and then there will be time to sit on the deck and just enjoy the nice weather we are having...
until it gets hot again...

so, whatever your plans are...
be safe this weekend...
and remember why we celebrate Memorial Day...
this country has been so blessed with some amazing people who gave their lives so we can have what we have and do what we do...
we need to believe in the dream that they fought and died for...
we need to live it...
have a great day and hug a vet!

storms going through today...

the morning was pretty nice...
nice enough to sit in the window and talk to the birds...

but it heated up pretty quick and we closed the windows and turned the air on...
before bath...

after bath...

we met DH at work and delivered Myra to her new mommy...
and showed off Charlie...
got home right before this hit...

there was softball size hail north of here, but we only got the marble size stuff...

it sounds terrible on the deck's tin roof!

we had no damage and no wind with it...
;)

and as soon as it eased up, the birds came back...
that's a baby wood pecker..

DH ran out and filled the feeders...

and I took some photos...

then we got a bit more hail...
and it was over...

there are dark clouds and thunder moving over us right now...

we could use a bit more rain...

the lilac is growing through the lattice...

Lester was in the yard when it hit...
he can run pretty fast when he has to...

and then one of the squirrels came to feed...
and now I know how my bird house gets knocked off of the bike seat now...

it was a good day until this afternoon...
got a pinched nerve that's made me sick to my stomach...
I have got to slow down...
sometimes I forget I am not normal anymore...
and it always comes back to bite me on the butt...
;)
resting tomorrow...

don't know if I told you or not, but Craig started working inside yesterday...
he is no longer a cart pusher...
and he is getting a 60 cent raise...
;)
he is stocking groceries, dry goods, now...
and he liked it...
he likes the manager and the people he worked with...
so, he is a happy camper...
;)

stay safe tonight...
hope you are not in the path of these storms...
Susie, I hope you are far enough north to miss the bad stuff...
and have a good day tomorrow...

today was for the birds...

wood pecker at the bird feeder this morning...

and I love this area...
I am not pulling any of the weeds here...
the birds love it...
and it reminds me of the weeds around the outbuildings on the farm...
reminds me of home...

the island is a busy place most of the time...

this afternoon, while I was out feeding...
I moved the bird feeders around...
hoping for some good photos of bigger birds in the coming days...

the iris are opening a little more today...

been a slow day here...
I did nothing, really...
until after supper...
I went over and started on the neighbors flower bed...
she had a stroke in Feb. and isn't able to do it...

we had trouble with the internet this afternoon and early evening...
its back on now, but I don't know for how long...
so trying to get this up while I can...

hope you had good days where you are...
and that your nice is peaceful and restful...
;)
