so, here is spring at our house...

its just coming up so fast...

and we still don't have all the beds cleaned out real good...

but its always a work in progress...

and the housework is suffering...

but it will be there later and on rainy days...

these were given to me by my late father in law...

and I plan on passing them down to the kids when they get their own homes...

and I am still sore and achy...

and I can't wait until I get that all worked out and in gardening shape...

a lot of the tulips are up, but no color showing yet...

and the mower guy got a new $13,000 mower...

and it makes the yard look really nice...

this is a good place to sit and rest...

the day lilies are getting taller...

and this is my little jungle area...

and I think it will make a great place for my fairy garden...

I just need to find some fairies...

or make them...
so, how does your garden grow?

;0)

the weekend was too short!

you know that I don't get around blogland like I used to...
but there are several reasons for that...

I have been spending my morning wake up time with these guys...

these are my edited version of photos posted on facebook by local dog rescues...

I take their photos and 'fix' them...
then post them back in the comments...

I never know how many there will be a day...
but, when they go up, I get in there and do what I do...

and its awesome to be asked to do something that I can do...

everyone of these pretty babies needs a home...

and if what I do helps in that...
then its a good morning in my photo editor...

whatever talents you have...
skills you think aren't that special...
take them and use them for something wonderful...
give back...
even the littlest things help...
like fixing photos or hitting the share button...
;0)
have a fun day, even if its a rainy one...
its going to be a down day for me...
too much fun over the weekend...
;0)
and I have picks of that...
for later...

a tale of two onions and other such stories...

but first, before they get packed away for a year...
here are a few things from our last shopping day...
before the dreaded bug bit us and had us down all week...
these bunnies in their eggs were a Dollar Tree find...
I can't wait to use them next year...

and I thought this would be nice on the deck this summer...

and these vintage looking hangy uppy things...
which came with a glitter surround...
you know how hard that is for me...
(garbage can in no time flat!)

I also found three hats...
the straw one for the scarecrow...
the bottom 2 are for me, and I found those at Walmart...
to keep the sun off my nose...
(bad hair days)

so, now you are caught up on that...
so here are Thursday pics before the storms came through...

being inside for 4 whole days was a shocker when I did get out...

so many things have happened without me!

and the wind was fierce that day...
lilacs were bouncing all over the place...

many of you have probably heard about the tornado that hit Rochelle, Il...
we didn't have anything like that at all here...

we are not even close to that area...
but they had us under a tornado watch until 11 that night...

by the time it got to us, it was fizzled out...

called the mower guy and he is coming this weekend...
it seems real when the yard gets mowed...

the neighbor's magnolia tree was in full bloom, too!

and we has plenty of rain this week...
I had the best day yesterday...
its been so long since I have felt that good...
but, I over did it and here I sit waiting for the aspirin to start working...
and I did clean off a lot of the deck and sat out there quite a bit...
so, here in a bit, I will head back to bed and may not come back out until noon...

but several of you asked about the onions...

did you know that onions, along with garlic and honey...
are natural antibiotics?
they kill bacteria...

onions actually are like a sponge and absorb bacteria...
did you know that the most common food responsible for food poisoning is the onion?
because it collects the bacteria...
and if you get sick out on a picnic on the potato salad...
it wasn't the mayo that did it...
that stuff is pretty stable...
it will be the onion in the potato salad that made you sick...
onions should be sealed in a container as soon as you slice them and put in the fridge...
and do not keep them long...
so...
if you put some in a bowl, like above...
they will absorb bacteria in the air...
and if you are really sick and have a lot of germs...
just cut one in half and place it in a bowl beside the bed over night...
throw away in the morning...

I have, for the past several years and longer...
placed a bowl of onions for this purpose in the kitchen...
some people will put a bowl in every room through the winter...
and we might get sick once...
but its not too bad...
not like what we have had this year...
so the onions are back...
the cheapest ones are fine...
I got a 3 lb bag...
and remember to keep them separate from the others and not to use them...
if they turn black, which means they are working...
just toss them and put some fresh ones out...
I am convinced this works...
but only if you do it!

so there you go...
now, get outside and play!
its spring for Pete's sake!

gaining ground...

slow but sure...

just took my last antibiotic....

hoping this is the last time that I am sick to my stomach...

slowly gaining strength and endurance...

only took three tries to get the dishes washed this morning...

sprayed the living room completely with lysol...

and am heading for my bedroom and bath to do the same thing...
got a bag of onions to put out...
every year I get a 3# bag of white onions and put them in a large crock bowl in the kitchen...
just to absorb bacteria...
I didn't do it this year...
and we have been so sick with one thing and then another...
so doing it now...
to clear the air...
and if you do this, do not eat them!
they will be so full of bacteria...

I am not a big fan of the lysol smell, but I have vicks up my nose and cannot smell it at all this way!

thunderstorms and rain today...
day number 4 of this and the last one...
humidity is 100%...
the central air is on...
such a fickled state right now...
hot one minute and freezing the next...
and we are all like this, just not at the same time...
so someone is sitting in front of a fan while another has the heater cranked up...
;0)
its driving the guys nuts...
I just stay in my corner and grin...
and think...
"welcome to my world"....
;0)
they're cheap entertainment...
have a good day...

our Sunday drive...

and the last time that I've been out of the house...

DH and I must have picked up a virus at the doctor's office last Monday...

I have been in bed for days...

I am missing the daffodils bloom...

the lilacs are greening up and the forsythia is turning yellow...

but I really don't care...

I just want this all to pass...
and for all of us to be well again...
;(
