my dwarf lilac...

has finally come into its own...

this is the first year that it has had this many blooms on it...

it is a very pale one...

almost white, but not quite...

and it looks pretty in front of the iris...

it is blooming after the regular lilacs are finished...
I might pick up another one later on...
if I find one on sale at the end of the season...

this one is 8-10 years old...
can't really remember for sure...
I think I need to keep a journal of when we plant major things...
getting old and just cannot remember well when all the years start running together...
;0)
we have been blessed with another wonderful day...
cloud covered and a 70% chance of rain, but so far, we have gotten nothing...
we were able to work in the south side of the yard and made some progress...
DH also got the hedge clippers out and trimmed back the evergreen by the drive way...
Craig parks the truck there...
and that bush literally took the side mirror off of it a couple days ago...
well, its not completely off...
the cable was still holding it on...
I grabbed the duck tape and taped it back upright until we can get it into the shop and get another one put on...
;0)
I pulled bucket after bucket of those crazy maple whirly gigs out of the flower beds today...
wish I had a big shop vac to vacuum the lawn!
its the worst that I have ever seen!
there are still 3 flats of flowers to plant...
not sure where Craig is going to put them all...
I hate to admit this, but I am tired of planting them!
he bought way too many!

we are slowly knocking things off of the to do list, but still have more to go...
its going to look good when we get it done...
maybe I just have too many ideas?
nah....
;0)
have a good weekend!

I think this container garden is going to work...

bean greens coming up!
we were late getting them planted this year, but the weather stayed cool and we had frost the week before we planted, so glad we held off...

I planted this this morning with rose moss and there are 2 peppers in the bottom pot along with more rose moss...
rose moss can take full sun...
and will bring the bees in to pollinate the veggies...

I raked and cleaned up all the maple copters...
and there were more this year than I have ever seen...
then Craig helped plant some more bloomers behind the tomatoes...

these are going to be so easy for me and DH to handle on our own this year...
picking is going to be awesome...

in a month, this will all be so pretty with everything much bigger...

I planted a few marigolds to keep the skeeters away...
hope it works...

and there it is so far...
we have much more to do in the yard...
a few places we haven't even touched yet...
not getting overgrown and full of copters...
those things are just everywhere...
got to mow in the morning if its not raining...

I took a lot more photos today, but will post those over the next few days...
have a great weekend!

a quick trip to the green house yesterday...

we have a green house just 2 miles south of us...

aloe- who knew there were so many different ones?

Craig need snap dragons and for some reason, they are hard to find this year...

so, in the middle of our planting yesterday...

he wanted to take a quick trip out to Beck's to see if they had any...

they didn't have many left, but he got what he went for...

and of course, so did I...

some great shots of some pretty blooms...

he used to work out here, in his early college days...
he worked 2 summers there...

we love their plants, but they are rather high...
those 6 packs were over $3 each...
you don't even want to know how much the hanging baskets are...
but they are pretty...

had a home alone day today and another tomorrow...
DH is working some over time, too...
so may change up my sleep patterns to adjust to it...

cleaned off the deck this morning and it was in the 40s...
a bit nippy here but should start warming back up tomorrow...
and here is a photo of the little babies today...
they are so big!
had to move them from the kennel to a tote...
right now they cannot climb over the top and mom can get into them anytime she wants to...
they were crawling out of the kennel...
every time I looked down, one or two were out...
so, this will work for a short time...
by then, we can get something else set up for mom and them...

have a good night!

the bloomers today...

I am getting so sore and tired...
purple columbine...

we planted and planted and planted today...
clematis...

and there are still flowers left to plant...
iris...

the rain has moved on out of here and we missed all the bad stuff and didn't flood!
iris...

and there is corn coming up in the field behind us...
iris and peonies...

I can't wait to be hemmed in!
old fashioned columbine...

it has cooled down and was 52 this morning when Craig and I headed outside...
columbine and spider wart...

tank top, long john shirt and a sweat shirt weather...
dwarf lilac in full bloom and iris...

its been pretty cloudy most of the day, but this evening, the clouds are gone and the skies are blue...
in the 40s tonight...
we have the furnace back on...

Bonnie and Clyde have coccidia...
a parasite in the intestines...
kenneled now and on meds...
not happy about it at all...
got 21 days now before we can even think about them going out of here...
everyone else is doing ok...
the new babies have their eyes open, but still sleeping when they aren't eating...

hope your week is going good so far...
I get a break tomorrow with both guys working, so am planning of resting up a bit...
got an alone day the next day, too...
might take 2 this time...
;0)
blessings to you...

Happy Mother's Day...

Craig got this for me last night...
I love it!

he also got these...

DH got me 2 new lilies...

we headed for Paris last night when Craig got home from work...

the iris are beginning to open out front, but not here, yet...

DH and I spent the afternoon out here planting all the new things...

and we moved the fairy to the island...
I found something to put in the south bed, but that's another post...
DH also got her for me for mother's day...

our 2 new lilies...

we did just a bit of shopping last night...
just about all of it was gardening stuff...
we grabbed some fast food from a couple of places and ate supper in the parking lot of Kroger's...
we got home just moments before dark and in between the rains...
got it all unloaded before the hard rain came...
we has rain last night and this morning...
cleared off the rest of today but it's coming back in tonight and tomorrow...

the stuff coming at us is the cells that have had so many tornadoes popping out of it...
not real exciting about starting the tornado season...

hope you all had good mother's days...
whether the human or furry kind of kids..
;0)
