another productive day...

do you have one of those places on your property that you hope no one ever sees?
well, this is one of two of ours...
(you'll get to see the other one next weekend)
and it is a sight, or was...
this is after much clean up...

everything that we don't know what to do with, goes on the dirt pile...

its all the dirt they dug out for our foundation...
and we have taken off of here for 18 years to fill in holes in the yard and to level areas out...
and its still a pretty good hill...

and behind it is all the previous concrete that was here that was dug out with a back hoe and just piled in the back...
and it was growing weeds and trees...
so we worked on that...

and then I pulled weeds out of the day lilies which are going to be opening sometime this week...

and the rain sure did the garden good...
and we put some more green beans in today...

everything has blooms on it...

so I sat in the shade, fighting the gnats...
and got things done...

and we trimmed the persimmon and the maple over here...

and that's the way its gone today...

and we spent the whole morning together...
you know what they say...
the family that weeds together, stays together...

and they put the roller back in front of the tree...
and Craig grabbed a piece of lattice to hide it...
going to ask the neighbors if they want it...
have no way of pulling it anymore...
and that is a major improvement...
see how big the corn is?
we didn't even fill the trash can...
but will probably get that done later this week when we start on the other problem area...
just wait until you see that...
one of these days...
we will hire someone with a bobcat or back hoe and a trailer to come in and clear off that concrete/ rock pile and level the rest of the hill out...
its only been there 18 years now...
a little while longer won't hurt a thing...
;)
so, off for a nap I go...
later...

a funny thing happened on the way to the landfill...

changed the living room around a little bit on Friday...

then we started out trimming trees again this morning...
and digging this pesky grass out of the front bed...
had 2 bunches of it come up in there again...

spider wart was buried alive in it...
but now it can breathe a little...

day lilies will be popping anytime...

the trimmings...

my radish bloomed!

on the way to the land fill with the limbs...

tractors are a major thing around here...

some older trade ins...
or maybe just waiting to be worked on...

and this is what I spotted at the land fill...

so this went to...

this in about 10 minutes...

got it done just before the rain came...
cone flowers are trying to open...

the asian lilies are looking good...

and then this happened...
wasn't supposed to get any rain this weekend...

but we ended up with 1.2 inches...
a good amount for the all the green things growing here...
and we did need it...
DH and I sat on the deck awhile until it started blowing in on us...
then we came in, grabbed something to munch on and took a nap...
we had supper when we got up and then took off for the dreaded Walmart run...
got 50 cent ice cream cones at Burger King on the way home...
;)
not a bad day at all...
hope your weekend is going well...
sleep tight!

we have some new ones...

my cat lady called this morning...
Pooder did good at the vet...
they took a stool sample...
and we are currently treating him for IBS...
pending the tests...
he goes back in a week...

in the meanwhile...

we have 5 new babies to feed...

and burp...

and bathe...

and feed some more...

and play with...

they are so cute...
they are leaving for the vet next week, too...
for testing and shots...
and if they are big enough...
off to Petsmart so they can be adoted out...

and then we had some visitors...
this little guy is spending his summer at grandpa's house...

his grandpa is one of our neighbors...

and when his momma was this age...
going on 3...
we babysat her...

and this is one of the neighbor's son's...
the little guy's uncle...

he is here for the summer, too...

this one is all boy...

and fun...

and always busy doing something...
you should see those 2 ride the gocart around...
its getting late...
so I will post more in the morning...
after the feeding and the burping...
;)

morning sun, afternoon clouds, sun spots and Ethel...

momma's ferns are doing great this year...
so far, until the Japanese beetles arrive...

it was a nice morning with a gentle breeze...

a little hazy, but it will get worse as the summer goes along...

in the afternoon, I weeded the veggie garden...

I probably should open the box of fertilizer...
haven't put anything on this except a handful of epsom salts...

we have a few blooms on the tomatoes...

and we need to buy a clothes line this week and get these racks ready for the growth that's going to happen...

have been wanting to do this for some time...
the scarecrows have been resting under the deck since last fall...

the heads were awful and needed replaced...
and I have a whole folder of images to share later...

and there she is...
Ethel...
I need to hit the resale shop for some decent duds for her...
so she will be redressed soon...

and some thunder boomers came through to the south and missed us...

and on the way back inside to do supper, the sun popped back out...
we got a walk in after supper and just sat down out front...
when the rain began...
we got just under a half an inch last evening...
the slow, steady kind of rain that just falls straight down...
we sat on the deck and then I laid down out there for about an hour...
just listening to the rain hit the tin roof...
I am so glad our builder understood the importance of the tin roof...
and just smiled when I told him what we wanted...
we are going to be digging peonies today and moving them here...
got several ideas, but not sure which will come to pass just yet...
not sure what we will do after that, or how long that is going to take...
so will take the camera and show you the progress later on...
have a blessed day and enjoy this transitional time between spring and summer...
for the heat will be coming before we know it...
;)
