the corn is ready and they are picking!...
and a hauling to the elevator...
keep an eye out for them on the roads...
they're on the move...
the pumpkins are ripe and being picked...
ready to sell...
ready to decorate with...
and this is coming on fast, too...
a full moon, dry weather, and an itch to get it done...
keep it safe guys...
everything here in our small community changes when they hit the fields...
we stay out of their way...
those combines are huge and take a lot of space...
the wagons have gotten so huge!...
but most around here haul in semis...
the line at the elevator will be so long...
and the diner and Casey's will be empty of the morning and afternoon coffee drinkers...
the implement businesses will be busy on calls...
fixing anything that breaks down in the field any time of day or night...
hopefully they can get all the corn in before they have to switch heads...
the beans are not even close...
soon, very soon, we will be able to see forever again...
and the rustle of the corn will end...
and before we know it...
just as quickly as it began...
harvest will be done...

You sure have a way with words! You make harvest time sound so beautiful. At least to me. I'm guessing you live in farm country. . . . you lucky girl!
It was so hot this summer I hardly went out and did anything. Now, with this batch of cool weather, it feels like I've gotta take in all the green before its gone. We've moved to a more rural community and I enjoy watching the harvest process. It's just fascinating!
Also...do you like pirate things? I keep seeing your "talk like a pirate day" countdown. My brother has a company called Root Jack...it's a pirate energy drink http://www.rootjack.com
It fights scurvy!
God Bless Ya!
