can't sleep...

so here are some vintage Christmas card images for you...
I love this snowman...
these images take me back to my childhood...
not only did I get to look at all of ours...
but when we stopped by grandma's...
I would look through hers, too...
mom taped ours up over the archway between the kitchen and living room...
but grandma put hers in a basket on the end table that held her Charlie Brown tree...
not only were they pretty...
but most of them had news in them...
hand written little notes about who had been sick, had surgery, got a new job...
if a baby had been born...
and of course...
the school pictures...
mom always stuck ours in there, with her little notes and mailed them across the country...
mom worked on her cards for weeks...
I can remember many a time finding her at the kitchen table, writing to someone far away...
my job...
licking stamps...
yuck...
there were always certain things that were on the table...
box of cards...
ink pen...
stationary...
stamps...
and a big glass of water...

I still send out Christmas cards...
with little notes about us...
its one thing that many people don't do anymore...
but as long as I can write...
I plan on doing it...
because keeping in touch the old fashioned way is still fun...
and its tradition!

I couldn't agree with you more Tete. I still send out Christmas cards. In fact, this year I just sent out 56 of them. From year to year a few get added, some get deleted, but all in all it usually hovers around 60. I'll never stop sending cards, even though the price of stamps are going up, it's a tradition and one that I love.

awwww. I love it. My parents always sent out a card with a "newsletter" printed on red paper inside it...some people used to call those the "Bragging updates..." but I guess they just didn't like to hear good stuff about other families...those newsletters often held sad or grieving news too... My dad still sends out the newsletter. I know I will get mine soon. :-) (lol...licking the stamps "yuck") yeah, I remember that! A lot of people send out the family photo. I like those too. Hope you have a great day Tete. Glad there are still those who pick up a pen and send out a personal handwritten card or note!!!!! Any news/updates from Eric???? praying. xoxoxo
