lots going on...

and then not much going on...

been painting anything that doesn't move this summer...

like?

the other one has a lion in the middle of the iron work on the sides...

I dry brushed the metal parts...

and we have carcasses everywhere!

I have been so sick off and on the past week or so...

been to the doctor and didn't feel like he listened to be at all...

wasted trip...

we are so thinking about changing doctors...

and seeing what happens...

I know its the non insulin he has me on...

went off of it and the tummy problems stopped and the blood sugar went down...

went back on it and was sick most of yesterday...

DH and I did our yearly blood screen on Thursday...

same day I turned 55...

we have been cleaning, cooking. weeding and yes...

even pulling flowers that are past their prime now...

we have leaves down...

been raking them...

some...

not keeping up, though...

bon fires the last two nights...

should have been painting the floor part of the deck this weekend...

but FedEx destroyed the first shipment...

(can you imagine the inside of that truck with brown deck paint?)

so its reordered and waiting on it...

I am running out of time to get that part done before more leaves fall...

or the fall rains start happening...

we have been super dry the last few weeks and this would have been the perfect weekend to knock that project out...

lack of photos and time has just flown by this week...

weekend gone awry...

DH's willow tree...

and I topped it pretty good the first two years...

no grass mowing here this weekend...

too dry for it to grow much...

I am in day 4 of high blood sugar numbers...

but after racking our puny little brains...

I think we have our answer...

been eating 2-3 tomatoes a day since Tuesday...

so no more for me for 48 hours to see if that's it...

got up Saturday morning and it was 294...

so Craig called in and stayed with me in case I needed to make an ER run...

but guess who went instead?

poor old DH came home from work with a bursitis attack...

so off they went to the ER (after he almost fell in the shower)

for a couple of shots and few days worth of meds...

all better now...

and here is a recent photo of the rugrats...

3+ weeks old now...

no names yet...

all  girls...

Wingus and Dingus are ready to go now, I think...

need to get some good photos of them and start posting them...

would love for them to go together, but it doesn't always work that way...

anyhoo...

I will be here STARVING! until this comes down again...

it could be, too, that the meds I am on for the Type2 have quit working and going against me...

had some tummy problems, too...

which is one of the side effects of it and what the Meformin did right before I couldn't take it anymore...

got off of it and my BS dropped to normal...

wish I wasn't so weird and could take stuff like other people...

oh, well...

I am my mother's daughter...

she wasn't "NORMAL", either!

one of my favorite months...

its birthday month...

my cousin's special day is the 12th...

mine is the 17th...

and Aunt Mary's is the 18th...

she didn't hold it against me too much that I couldn't wait just one more day so we could share our birthdays...

like I knew!

so getting her card ready to get in the mail...

my cousin is online, so I will send her birthday wishes there...

but Aunt Mary is old school...

in her 80s now and in a nursing home...

I have already gotten my card from her...

gearing up to get some more things knocked off this weekend...

shouldn't be too bad...

going to start dumping a few pots, too...

neighbors and friends have blessed us with green beans and tomatoes this week...

made a roaster full of green beans...

sadly, we finished them up last night...

but we still have tomatoes...

and my friend has named herself the tomato fairy...

and she even delivers...

we are dry here and lacking rain in the forecast...

I am going to text the mower guy and pass this week...

its not growing much at all...

having to water quite a bit...

but with this cooler weather...

its not taking much...

but the ground is too hard to dig and transplant things...

so will just put off any of that until next spring...

when we hit the ground running!

that shouldn't be too bad...

been in the upper 70s...

and its been so nice...

fall's coming...

those are leaves down...

autumn clematis is ready to bloom...

walnut trees are full of nuts and those are starting to come down...

DH's willow tree...

and the rose garden wanna be...

maybe that's what we will work on this weekend...

I have put in 4 days in a row outside...

things are shaping up, finally...

we have conquered the overgrowth, weeds...

and the dreaded flood area...

and I am taking a down day...

I haven't felt real good anyway...

like a cold is coming on...

might be the fibro, too...

Craig had Monday and Tuesday off...

we got the back steps painted...

the rails on the front one done...

kick plates...

and a whole bunch of little things on the list knocked off...

one by one...

we picked up where DH and I left off from the weekend...

neighbor gave us a bunch of green beans and then couldn't find his crock pot...

so we cooked them off in the big roaster...

and gave him a big container of them...

our beans and tomatoes didn't make...

on the new list to pull and dump pots this weekend...

and we need to water every day now...

super dry and no rain in sight...

have good days!

I love sitting on the steps...

its my favorite place to sit outside...

it always has been...

and not just my steps...

any place I ever went with my parents when I was a kid...

seemed like I always ended up sitting on the front or back steps...

and if the adults were on the porch...

they took up the seating...

the gliders, porch swings and rockers...

which left the steps for us kids...

love this plant...

this morning, there was a slight breeze out there...

and the cleome were swaying this way and that...

just sitting...

watching the breeze play with our yard...

seeing shadows in funny places...

heart shadows...

a perfect time to meditate, talk to God and just cleanse all the nasty stuff away...

and dreaming of what we might do next season...

in 2 or 3, even...

and looking at the weekend ahead...

dead heading is high on the list...

if I don't get to it this evening...

that depends on the weather...

I sure hope we can find these next year...

I will buy more than a 6 pack for sure...

the humming birds come to them...

and the moth hummingbirds come at night...

after supper...

I sit on the steps and watch them come in...

and the yard and beds have meaning for us...

little things from different people who have been in our lives...

and some who are no longer on earth...

do you like morning glories?

I know most see them as a weed...

but I don't...

I am going to do what I did last fall, too...

I am going to the field and pulled them and wrap them in other areas of the yard...

in other beds...

so more will come next year...

hoping I come up with some blue ones...

got the pink and purple going here!
